Role Purpose

As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will be a key member of the Network and Communications team, responsible for safeguarding IT systems and data by proactively identifying and mitigating cyber threats. You will manage security tools, conduct risk assessments, respond to incidents, and ensure compliance with industry standards.



Experience and skills:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Degree in Cyber Security or Computer Science

OR one of the following certifications:

  • Microsoft Security Operations Analyst / Sentinel (SC-200)

  • Microsoft 365 Security Administrator (MS-500)

  • Microsoft Azure Security Technologies (AZ-500)

  • CompTIA A+ / Security+ / ITF+

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience in a Cyber Security role or SOC environment.

  • Strong incident response experience.

  • Proficiency with Defender, Sentinel, and Intune.

  • Experience with secure web gateways and Azure.

  • Knowledge of end-point security, anti-virus solutions, and vulnerability management.

  • Understanding of security policies, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and security protocols.

  • Familiarity with network/cloud platforms, penetration testing, and email authentication (DKIM, SPF, DMARC).

  • Knowledge of physical and virtual server and storage infrastructure.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain security policies and procedures to ensure best practices are followed.

  • Protect the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive data and systems.

  • Respond swiftly to security breaches and incidents, leading investigations and implementing corrective measures.

  • Take accountability for managing and resolving security incidents effectively.

  • Monitor security systems, analyse logs, and identify potential threats.

  • Maintain thorough documentation of security processes, incidents, and procedures.

  • Ensure consistent maintenance and updates of security configurations for hardware and software.

  • Oversee documentation and management of application and firmware releases in line with best practices.

  • Conduct penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and security audits, ensuring compliance with GIRR/NIST/SyAP.

  • Work closely with DDaT and Information Security (InfoSec) teams to integrate security measures across all technology platforms.

  • Support the development and enforcement of device certification policies to improve security, network performance, and user experience.

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to evaluate and prioritise security threats within the network and systems.
